Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Short answers for common 3D printing cost, pricing, and material questions.

Where do I get the grams used?

Use the estimate shown by your slicer before printing. Most slicers show filament usage in grams after slicing the model.

Should I include failed prints?

Yes. Add a small waste percentage so your estimate includes supports, purge material, brims, tests, and occasional failed prints.

Is material cost enough for selling prints?

No. Sellers should also include electricity, labor, machine wear, packaging, platform fees, and profit margin.

Which material is easiest for beginners?

PLA is usually the easiest FDM material for beginners because it prints cleanly and needs less tuning than many engineering materials.
