Bambu Lab A1 settings for reliable PLA and PETG prints

Start with the manufacturer profile in Bambu Studio, then adjust only after checking plate cleanliness, filament dryness, calibration, and the model's geometry. These ranges are starting points, not replacements for the spool manufacturer's limits.

Safe starting ranges

PLA

PLA baseline

Nozzle: Use the filament maker's profile; a common starting range is 200–220°C

Bed: 55–65°C

Cooling: High after the first layers

Layer height: 0.20 mm general use; 0.16 mm for finer detail

Prioritize a clean plate, correct flow calibration, and dry filament.

PETG

PETG baseline

Nozzle: Use the filament maker's profile; a common starting range is 230–255°C

Bed: 70–85°C

Cooling: Moderate; increase for bridges

Layer height: 0.20 mm general use

Dry the spool, reduce excessive first-layer squish, and avoid printing too fast before calibration.

Use this adjustment order

  1. Confirm the correct printer, nozzle diameter, build plate, and material profile.

  2. Clean the plate and dry moisture-sensitive filament before changing slicer values.

  3. Run bed levelling, flow calibration, and a small test part.

  4. Change one setting at a time and record the result.

  5. Save the proven values as a named filament profile for that exact brand and colour.

Poor first layer

Wash the build plate with dish soap and water, avoid touching the print area, confirm the correct plate in the slicer, and rerun bed levelling.

Stringing

Dry the filament first. Then verify nozzle temperature, flow, and retraction using small controlled tests.

Weak walls

Confirm the correct material profile, increase wall count for functional parts, and avoid lowering temperature until layer bonding becomes weak.

Rough corners

Reduce speed or acceleration for the affected feature and verify that the filament profile is calibrated.

Dimensional error

Measure the printed part with calipers, check shrinkage and hole compensation, and change one variable at a time.
